Application Deadlines for Oxbridge, Medicine and Dentistry

The great thing about higher education is that you can study basically whatever you want. Some people choose to study history, English or even maths. For those subjects, the application deadlines are fairly fixed and universal. However, if you want to study at Oxbridge or study medicine and dentistry, the rules are slightly different.

If you apply for Oxbridge or to study any of the medicine-related courses, your application deadline will be different. Understanding the difference between this deadline and the normal one is vital for making sure that you don’t make a mistake that will cost you your education or put it at risk.

Application Deadlines for Oxbridge

Oxbridge Deadline Applications

So, the first thing you will want to keep in mind is that from the 6th of September, you can start to submit the materials and paperwork required to complete your application form. This is done in 2022 for any application to study in 2023. Furthermore, at this point, universities can start to make decisions about the applications they receive, but most universities leave it a little bit later to get the best idea of applicants for the year.

If you are going to study at Oxbridge, then the Oxbridge application deadline is the 15th of October. This is a very short time frame to complete and submit an application, so anybody who doesn’t want to study at Oxbridge should be focused, ready to start work as soon as the 6th rolls around, and committed to doing so.

Medicine and Dentistry Application Deadline

If you want to study either medicine or dentistry at most universities, then you also need to make sure that you are submitting an application by the 15th of October.

With that being said, there are a few key dates that you should probably keep in mind when it comes to the medicine application deadline and other important deadlines for the UCAS process.

For example, the general limit for all other UCAS deadlines is the 25th of January, 2023. Universities usually start making decisions for all 25th of January applications on the 18th of May, so your application will probably have been processed before that. As part of the processing exercise, you should have heard from the university by then.

Regardless of whether you hear back about your application earlier than the 18th of May or around that point, if you have a conditional or unconditional offer to study at Oxbridge or at your university of choice, you need to respond to that by the 8th of June.

Smart Submissions - Personal Statements and Writing For an Oxbridge Medicine Application Deadline

If you successfully submit an application within the deadline for your field of study, you will have to write a personal statement to attach to your UCAS application. This is often the hardest part for many people.

The personal statement is a vital component of a successful UCAS application. Regardless of whether you meet the deadline, you will need to create a personal statement, and it will influence whether or not you receive a place on the course.

Unfortunately, lots of people don’t know how to write a personal statement or simply don’t have the confidence required to do so. After all, it can be quite difficult to sit down and write about yourself in a critical and objective way.

Our team specialises in creating Oxbridge personal statements and will be happy to help you with your application. We know how difficult it can be to get the results that you want, especially when you are not confident in writing, so we are happy to help you out.

How to Apply Quickly

Obviously, considering the expedited nature of the application process, it’s important to be able to act quickly. In many cases, you need to start preparing your application ahead of time. This is not easy, especially if you are new to the UCAS process, so let’s take a look at a few things you can do.

You should talk to your tutor or lecturer if you are in education and tell them about your plans to apply to Oxbridge or to study medicine and dentistry. If they know what you want to achieve, they can help you by starting the prep work with you a little bit earlier than for others. After all, you have less time to sort your application out for the subjects.

You are not allowed to start attaching documents and filling out your application until the 6th of September, but you can begin work on some of the preliminary documents beforehand. For example, you can create a personal statement in advance, so all you need to do is attach it. Again, we are happy to help with a personal statement for the university.

You should make sure you are focused and committed. Lots of people get distracted by the idea of making new friends and utilising their newfound freedom and education, but it’s important to put your application above going out to see people or having hobbies for a little while. It will be worth it in the long run.

As a piece of advice, make sure that you are 100% committed to your course of action. Medicine, dentistry, and a course at somewhere like Oxbridge can often be a very difficult, intense process. Anything involving medicine, in particular, is often many years of study and a lot of difficult coursework and practical experience. We’re not saying don’t go for it; we are simply saying make sure you are happy with the undertaking you are trying to apply for.

Final Thoughts

So, submitting an application to study at Oxbridge or to do medicine and dentistry is a big undertaking. You don’t have as much time as in other courses, and that means you need to be focused and ready to start applying as soon as possible.

You should definitely apply as soon as you can because student funding opportunities are very quickly taken by other candidates who have an offer approved by their university or a course. It’s also important to recognise that meeting the deadline is a vital part of applying because it demonstrates a degree of personal responsibility to the university.
